Crime Statistics
Every year we complete a Crime Analysis and a Traffic Analysis to determine trends and gather statistics on crime types, traffic violations and collisions that occur in our community. This analysis is used to help focus our resources on areas that need attention. This is done annually by creating objectives and goals dealing with the specific issue. The entire membership has input as to what the main issues are and how we are going to address them. These objectives include not only our patrol officers in the way of enforcement, but other sections such as Criminal Investigation for intelligence gathering, Crime Prevention for community education and our School Resource Officer to reach out to our youth in the schools.
The same type of initiative is used in our Traffic Section in an attempt to reduce various offences throughout the year. There is a monthly Selective Traffic Enforcement Program that addresses a particular area each month. That initiative is posted on our home page.
The statistics posted on these pages provide an overview of crime types and traffic related offences. They allow for a comparison and give a general idea of what types of offences our police service deals with from year to year.
